Dinshaw Iron Works established in 1884 was engaged in the manufacturing machinery for the oil industry.  Ramesh Patel took over the reins from his father  B B Patel in 1965 and spearheaded the growth of the company. The company made a breakthrough by introducing hydraulically operated cylinders with mechanical locking devices under Patel's stewardship.
In the 1970s Hansen GmbH of West Germany introduced Polypropylene plates. These offered many advantages and almost eliminated metallic and wooden filter plates in low and medium temperature ranges. The company was the sole representative of Hansen GmbH in India.

Manufacturing Facilities
Company set up its first manufacturing facility in 1983 in Belgaum to manufacture cast iron filter plates and quality castings. Later the company expanded its product portfolio and started manufacturing PP filter plates in 1984, as there was a growing demand for application of these plates in every major industry.  Extensive capabilities in manufacturing management coupled with long standing strength has enabled the company to bring exceptional service and value to a broad spectrum of chemical industry.
In 1985, modern machines such as horizontal boring, plano millers, lathes, shaping and radial drilling machine were installed to develop in house capability to manufacture all machine components required for filters press. The company manufactured first filter press using automatic plate shaking device to discharge filter cake and later went on to manufacture automatic plate shaking device to discharge filter cake in 1996.
Later in 2000, the company commissioned a new factory at Hatkangale, close to Kolhapur, where compression polypropylene molding presses were designed, manufactured and installed. The new factory manufactures high quality PP filter elements. Simultaneously it also installed a new induction furnace to produce alloy steel casting required for various components. With commissioning of this new facility all components were brought under in-house manufacturing range. This enabled the company to produce high quality product matching international standards.

Core Strengths
Dinshaw is equipped with management graduates to market products and well-experienced engineers to carry after sales services for the clients. Company has the manufacturing capabilities to manufacture PP Filters and Hydraulic Cylinders and has also developed its own Membrane Filter Press and supplied to various industries in the domestic market. The company works constantly towards upgrading the quality of products in case of polymer and mechanical structure. Dinshaw also introduced automated filter presses that require minimal human intervention.
The products are manufactured as per the international quality standards. A major portion of production is sold in the overseas markets. Currently the company exports around 30 percent of its total production. Esteemed clientele of Dinshaw is spread across the globe and the products are exported to Germany, USA, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Romania, Syria, Nigeria, China, Vietnam, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Chile etc. The company is regularly working with consultants like Bechtel, Kvaerner, UHDE, Flour, LURGI, EIL MECON, M N DASTUR, DCPL

Future Plans
Dinshaw has entered the arena of engineering services and offers turnkey plants and other infrastructure for filtration. The residues include cake with minimum liquids and filter with minimum solids. The concept of filter press filtration has undergone massive change and new trends have emerged in the market. The filtration technology has been improving constantly and the company strives to be the leaders not only in the hardware part like filter press machine, but also in the software area as a solution provider. Today Dinshaw Filtration is a leading solution provider to filtration problems and has been maintaining its leadership to date.
