Copenhagen Consensus seeks to establish priorities for advancing global welfare using methodologies based on the theory of welfare economics. "From the perspective of process solution provider the Copenhagen Conference sets the platform for the world to manage global warming and for countries to commit themselves towards taking steps to control Green House Gases (GHG) emissions. The summit, which resulted in increased awareness within the industry on GHG emissions, would open up more opportunities for process solution providers to help customers manage the carbon footprint for their processes/businesses. It paves the way to establish a regulatory framework to manage GHG emissions further accelerating opportunities for process solution providers to develop or deploy enabling technologies towards achieving the objective set by the regulatory framework", states Ajay Bhargava, Country Manager, Honeywell Process Solutions India, a strong and vibrant business unit serving the process industries.
The industry is adopting most modern techniques to enhance productivity and efficiencies. "Current market and technology trends in Automation emphasize on open systems with interoperability of multiple applications and solutions in manufacturing automation all the way through environment such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in a manufacturing Information Technology (IT) space," says Ajay Bhargava. The industry is moving towards virtualization, which is one of the key areas, with a slightly more enduring impact.
Honeywell offers the plant-wide solutions and provides complete sensor to boardroom solutions for the chemical process industries. It covers the entire spectrum of control systems architecture within a chemical plant ranging from Field Instruments, Distributed Control System (DCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Process Optimization (Simulation and Advanced Process Control), Business Optimization Solutions (MES, Supply Chain Solutions) and interface with the enterprise level (SAP).
"There are several key industries that Honeywell is focusing on and it leads the way in key verticals such as Refining and Petrochemicals, Oil and Gas, Power, Chemicals and Life Sciences, Metals, Minerals and Mining, Pulp, Print and Paper by providing complete, customer-focused solutions to improve organization's business performance through better safety, reliability and efficiency", he further points out.
"Wide breadth of the portfolio ranging from sensor boardroom solutions, extremely high level of domain/application expertise, significant research and development towards technology in addition to unparallel lifecycle support capability provide Honeywell an edge over the other technology providers from the same field", says the country manager.
