SLAS - Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening

SLAS is an international community of more than 10,000 individual scientists, engineers, researchers, technologists and others from academic, government and commercial laboratories. SLAS provides forums for education and information exchange to encourage study and advance laboratory science and technology for the drug discovery, agrochemical, biotechnology, chemical, clinical diagnostic, consumer product, energy, food, forensic, pharmaceutical, security and other industries.

SPPA - Shanghai Pharmaceutical Profession Association

Shanghai Pharmaceutical Profession Association (SPPA) was founded on January 5,1987. As a professional social organization in the position of legal body of mass organization which is not aimed at gaining economic benefit, it has been organized on the principle of voluntary mainly by enterprises of pharmaceutical industry.

It now consists of 210 group members in the fields of chemical pharmaceutical manufacturing, bioengineering, pharmaceutical adjuvant, pharmaceutical packaging material, pharmaceutical machinery, schools and research institutes. SPPA consists of biotechnical professional commission, pharmaceutical packaging material professional commission, pharmaceutical adjuvant professional commission and medical instrument professional commission. SPPA has a consultation service department and Shanghai Medical and Pharmaceutical Journal.

SPPA's aim is service. The business of SPPA includes providing service of information, drug price, statistics, technology, marketing, exhibition, promotion of strategy of famous-brand products, inspection, exchange, training, research and discussion. According to the principle of "service, communication, and democratic management", SPPA which is in the position of an assistant and a staff officer of the government actively expresses requirements of enterprises to the government, protects the justified rights of enterprises, passes on ideas of the government to enterprises, promotes the idea and practice of "Corporate Social Responsibility" and proceeds self-discipline among all the group members.

SPPA has 5 departments: office, technical consultation department, price office, statistic office, and information department.

Office is in charge of the management of group members, general affairs internally and externally, professional title evaluation, personnel management, web site maintenance, and the edit of information internal. Technical consultation department takes responsibility of technical consultation, technical service, products presentation, the evaluation of famous and excellent products, the plan of industry development, the management of precursor chemicals, and skill training. Entrusted by Shanghai Price Bureau, price office carries out first trial of price of chemical, biologic and biochemical products manufactured by pharmaceutical industrial enterprises and sold in Shanghai. It also offers individual service to different group members according to their requirements. Entrusted by the concerned authority, statistic office is responsible of statistics of enterprises of Shanghai pharmaceutical industry, and offers service to the members individually. Information department takes charge of organizing academic discussion and the publication of Shanghai Medical and Pharmaceutical Journal and Pharmaceutical Reference News.

SPPA's public periodical: Shanghai Medical and Pharmaceutical Journal. SPPA's private periodicals: Pharmaceutical Reference News, Bulletin of SPPA, Medicines Information Compile and Statistical Analysis Report of Shanghai Pharmaceutical Industry.

During 1961, Japanese government realized the burden that would increase on pharmacies and pharmaceutical departments in lieu of increasing number of patients during forthcoming years. Government created a universal healthcare system for pharmaceutical administration through public funding to increase opportunities in the sector and efficient management.
